Can i use a cast iron skillet instead of a dutch oven

Cast iron skillet is also one of the widely used Cookwares today. They are used in preparing many dishes too, the same as Dutch ovens. Then can you use a cast iron skillet instead of Dutch oven? Yes, when the latter is not available, the skillet can serve the purpose. 

One of the reasons why you can use a cast iron skillet in place of the Dutch oven is that it has thick and high walls as do the Dutch oven. With the thick and high walls, you can prepare food like soup, stew, pasta, chili and others.

Can i use a crockpot instead of a dutch oven

Crock-Pot can be said to be the exact replacement of Dutch oven. It is a slow cooker used in preparing many recipes in our home. As we can see in Dutch oven, heat transfer is even which makes it good for cooking Indian cuisine and the same is applicable with the Crock-Pot. 

With the Crock-Pot having a fine lid and thermostats that help in keeping the heating temperature low, this enables long time cooking which is also the same as the Dutch oven. Though the Dutch oven Cooks faster than the Crock-Pot. 

So when you want to cook food that you will allow for many hours, you need the Crock-Pot instead of the Dutch oven.
